Up to H+10, the total passenger flow at\nall its managed ports reached 758,291 people, surging 10.41% compared to\nthe same period last year. This figure serves as a primary indicator not\nonly of the recovery of public trust in sea transportation but also the\nsuccess of cross-agency operational synergy in handling the significant\ninflux of holiday travellers. Balikpapan, Ambon, and Makassar ports\nemerged as the busiest hubs, each recording passenger flows exceeding\n98,000 people. Executive Director 4 of Pelindo Regional 4, Abdul Azis,\nstated that this increase reflects thorough operational readiness.\n\u201cCumulatively up to H+10, the number of passengers reached 758,291\npeople, up 10.41% from 2025. This increase reflects operational\nreadiness as well as synergy among all stakeholders in ensuring safe,\nsmooth, and comfortable services for the public,\u201d said Abdul Azis. Of\nthe total, 412,013 were embarking passengers, while 346,278 were\ndisembarking. The peak mudik flow occurred on H-8 (13 March 2026) with\n46,949 people, while the highest return wave was on H+8 (29 March 2026)\nwith 41,739 people, indicating a fairly concentrated movement pattern.\nPositive trends were also seen in ship traffic, with 1,077 vessels\nserviced, up slightly by 0.94% year-on-year. Ternate Port recorded the\nhighest with 162 vessels, followed by Ambon and Manado. According to\nAbdul Azis, intensive coordination with ship operators was key to\nmaintaining sailing schedule stability amid the passenger surge. To\nsecure this influx, Pelindo Regional 4 applied integrated security\nstrategies at all vulnerable points. Operations Division Head of Pelindo\nRegional 4, Yusida M. Palesang, explained that they allocated additional\npersonnel and activated a rapid response team (emergency response team).\n\u201cSome security measures implemented include regulating vehicle and\npassenger traffic lanes, supervising people and luggage through X-ray\nfacilities, increasing patrol frequency, and intensive coordination with\nsecurity apparatus,\u201d said Yusida.
