        "content": "<p>Jakarta\u2019s Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission B has urged the\nmunicipally owned enterprise Perumda Pasar Jaya to immediately implement\nan independent, technology-based waste management system in large-scale\nmarkets. Commission B Chair Nova Harivan Paloh stated on Wednesday that\nsuch a system would be far more effective in reducing the accumulation\nof waste at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Treatment Plant in Bekasi,\nWest Java. He assessed that wholesale and large markets in Jakarta must\nbegin adopting environmentally friendly waste processing technology, for\ninstance by providing facilities to convert waste into compost or\nrenewable energy. \u201cThey must truly have a technology-based waste\nmanagement system and the Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL)\nrequirements must be fulfilled,\u201d Nova said. He added that the output of\nindependent waste management must have clear inputs and outputs,\nincluding reducing waste from upstream to downstream. \u201cThe current\nproblem is that if we merely sort the waste and then send it back to\nBantargebang, it is pointless. This means that after sorting, large\nmarkets must also have proper processing management,\u201d Nova explained.\nThe obligation for area managers and companies to manage waste\nindependently is already stipulated in Gubernatorial Regulation Number\n102 of 2021 concerning Waste Management Obligations in Areas and\nCompanies.<\/p>",
