Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perumda Pasar Jaya has deployed 33 rubbish\ntransport trucks to handle the mountain of waste at the Kramat Jati Main\nMarket in East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have transported the waste using 33 trucks, consisting of 20\nvehicles yesterday (Tuesday, 31 March) and 13 vehicles today,\u201d said Head\nof Public Relations Division of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Imam Kurniawan, when\ncontacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that Perumda Pasar Jaya is committed to accelerating\nwaste handling so that residents\u2019 activities are not disrupted.<\/p>\n
In addition, this commitment also aims to maintain the smooth\noperation of the market and the comfort of all visitors and traders at\nthe Kramat Jati Main Market.<\/p>\n
Moreover, the estimated current waste volume is approximately 6,970\ntonnes, equivalent to 410 trucks.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an acceleration step, since Friday (27\/3) until today, the DKI\nJakarta Provincial Environment Agency and Perumda Pasar Jaya have\ncoordinated and worked together to resolve waste handling at the Kramat\nJati Main Market,\u201d said Imam.<\/p>\n
In addition, he mentioned that the waste cleaning process will\ncontinue until conditions in the area return to normal.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have taken regulatory measures and field inspections to ensure\nthat the waste disposal flow remains under control,\u201d said Imam.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will resolve the waste problem at the Kramat Jati Main Market as\nsoon as possible,\u201d stressed Topik.<\/p>\n
He revealed that in the future, waste management at the Kramat Jati\nMain Market will be handled by a third party.<\/p>\n

\u201cUp to today, our vehicles are still there helping. Today, we\ndeployed 13 rubbish transport trucks,\u201d said Head of Sudin LH East\nJakarta, Julius Monangta, in Pulo Gebang, East Jakarta, on Monday\n(30\/3).<\/p>\n
He emphasised that assistance from Sudin LH East Jakarta is not\nlimited to a specific time but will continue until the waste conditions\nat the location are properly handled.<\/p>\n
Observations at the site show a waste mountain approximately 6 metres\nhigh still clearly visible. The rotten smell from vegetable, fruit, and\nvarious other waste is mixed and can be smelled from afar.<\/p>\n
At the edge of the waste mountain, heavy vehicles are present to\nscoop the waste to prevent it from scattering onto the roads.<\/p>\n
Due to the waste mountain, the wall directly behind the pile,\napproximately six metres high, has collapsed.<\/p>\n
Concrete materials and support poles are seen collapsed, with some\nentering the waterway below.<\/p>\n
Not only that, waste in the form of vegetable and fruit residues at\nthe Temporary Disposal Site (TPS) also appears to have been carried into\nthe waterway. This condition has the potential to clog water flow and\nworsen the environmental situation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the area behind the TPS is known as vacant land used by\nresidents and as a playground for children.
