Party rejects drugs users as recruits<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The People's Struggle Party (PPR) rejects new
\nrecruits who are in any way involved in drugs, PPR chairman
\nGustaf Gupe says.<\/p>\n
Gustaf said on Sunday that even though the party was open to
\npeople from all walks of life, including former political
\nprisoners like Gustaf himself, it drew the line when it came to
\ndrug users, or people linked to drugs.<\/p>\n
\"Drugs will spoil the image of our party. Drug users and
\ntraffickers clearly damage the nation's morals and its youth,\"
\nGustaf was quoted as saying by Antara on the sidelines of the
\nopening of the party's Jakarta chapter.<\/p>\n
PPR was launched on Aug. 26 last year and had been formed to
\naccommodate the aspirations of people of all ethnicities
\nreligions and creeds. Some of its leaders are former political
\nprisoners.<\/p>\n
The party has opened a number of chapters in Indonesia,
\nincluding in Central Java, Yogyakarta, South Sulawesi and
