        "content": "<p>'Party flags, posters make Jakarta messier'<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with the election campaign period, the 24<br>\npolitical parties began putting up their flags and posters all<br>\nover the city. Various shapes, sizes and colors in overwhelming<br>\nabundance now adorn the city, however, it has given the city an<br>\neven less orderly look than normal. The Jakarta Post talked to<br>\nfew Jakarta residents for their thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>Adrianus Kwinta, 35, is a magazine sales executive. He lives<br>\nwith his wife in Kelapa Dua, West Jakarta:<\/p>\n<p>The city is so messy right now because of so many banners,<br>\npamphlets and flags strung up everywhere with all the different<br>\npolitical parties' logos. Instead of giving clear information to<br>\nthe people, such a mess just confuses everyone.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that the campaign is sort of out of hand and pretty<br>\nannoying. I felt disturbed recently when I went to an<br>\nentertainment center and I discovered many pamphlets distributed<br>\nthere. Some parties even have placed their paraphernalia at the<br>\nzoo. It's ridiculous. Do they think animals can understand all<br>\ntheir campaign stuff?<\/p>\n<p>I don't like the way elections are done here, not even this<br>\nyear's as it's just the same as previous elections.<\/p>\n<p>Helena Simatupang, 30, is a bank employee in Central Jakarta.<br>\nShe lives in Pulo Gebang, East Jakarta:<\/p>\n<p>Everything is fine so far. I don't think posters and banners<br>\nalong the roads have made Jakarta any uglier.<\/p>\n<p>However, I wonder why only the big parties' have their stuff<br>\nhanging everywhere, dominating the city's streets. Maybe, it is<br>\nbecause they have more money to fund their campaign compared to<br>\nnew or small parties.<\/p>\n<p>Even though I don't really mind the mess, these mass rallies<br>\nand convoys of political party gangs are quite annoying. They<br>\nonly worsen the traffic jams on the city streets, no civic<br>\neducation is involved.<\/p>\n<p>But I find something interesting from the parties' ads on TV<br>\nand radio. Their statements or their so-called vision and mission<br>\nare simply monotonous and boring.
