        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government is accelerating the provision of\ndecent housing through the construction of subsidised flats in the\nMeikarta area, Bekasi Regency, West Java, targeting the provision of up\nto 141,000 vertical housing units to meet the housing needs of\nlow-income communities in stages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe construction of subsidised flats in the Meikarta area represents\na collaborative breakthrough between the government, private sector, and\nfinancing institutions, marked by the groundbreaking on 8 March 2026 on\napproximately 30 hectares of clean and clear land,\u201d said the Head of the\nPresidential Staff Office (KSP), Muhammad Qodari, in Jakarta on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The government emphasised that the development of vertical housing is\nan effective solution to address land limitations in the capital\u2019s\nbuffer regions. The project location in Bekasi Regency has been\nconfirmed to meet all administrative and technical requirements to\nensure construction proceeds without future land issues.<\/p>\n<p>In its implementation, Muhammad Qodari expressed appreciation to all\nparties involved in this major project. The strategic partnership\nincludes the role of Lippo Group as the owner of the previously stalled\nMeikarta project, the Bekasi Regency Government, and Danantara Indonesia\nin realising an integrated housing ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that this collaboration is an important part of\naccelerating the realisation of the 3 Million Houses Programme initiated\nby President Prabowo Subianto. The government hopes that synergy with\nthe private sector can expand access for communities to obtain safe,\nhealthy, and affordable housing.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to construction in urban areas, the government is also\nprioritising housing provision for residents in disaster-affected\nregions. This effort is being carried out through the construction of\npermanent relocation housing (huntap) scattered across several points on\nSumatra Island and Aceh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government is building permanent relocation housing for\ndisaster-affected communities totalling 2,603 units in Aceh, North\nSumatra, and West Sumatra with a mutual cooperation approach,\u201d Qodari\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that this humanitarian programme is being implemented by\npartnering with Yayasan Buddha Tzu Chi as the field implementing\npartner.
