        "content": "<p>Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR) held a working\nmeeting to evaluate the handling of the 2026 Eid exodus and return\nflows. Chairman of Commission V DPR, Lasarus, stated that his commission\nrecorded a decline in both mobility and the number of traffic accidents\nduring this year\u2019s exodus.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that during the 2025 exodus and return, public mobility\nwas recorded at 154.62 million people. However, for the 2026 exodus and\nreturn, public mobility was recorded at 147.55 million people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPublic mobility decreased by around 4.57 percent from the previous\nyear\u2019s exodus,\u201d said Lasarus at the DPR, MPR, and DPD Complex on Monday,\n13 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>He continued that, based on data obtained from the Indonesian\nNational Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) during Operation Ketupat\nfrom 13-25 March, the number of traffic accidents following this year\u2019s\nexodus also experienced a decline.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2025 exodus and return, said Lasarus, Korlantas recorded\n2,888 accident cases, but this year the figure dropped to 2,727\nincidents.<\/p>\n<p>Decline data was also presented from records of the Ministry of\nTransportation. Lasarus said that the Ministry of Transportation, during\nthe H-8 to H+8 period of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, recorded a decrease\nin accidents of around 6.31 percent from the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year there were 3,517 cases compared to 3,754 cases in 2025,\u201d\nsaid the PDIP politician.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, on 30 March, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi\nstated that although public mobility decreased during the 2026 exodus,\nthe number of public transport users this year actually increased.<\/p>\n<p>During the Lebaran period, said Dudy, the total number of public\ntransport passengers reached 23.54 million people, an increase of 10.87\npercent compared to the same period the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>If broken down by mode, all types of transportation experienced an\nincrease in passenger numbers. Dudy explained that road transport grew\nby 11.64 percent, sea transport rose by 9.86 percent, air transport\nincreased by 6.97 percent, and rail transport added 10.13 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The highest surge occurred in ferry crossings, reaching 15.36\npercent. From the perspective of private vehicles, he said, the outbound\nflow from the Jabodetabek area was dominated by movement towards the\neast of Java Island.<\/p>\n<p>Dudy continued that 50 percent of private vehicles leaving\nJabodetabek moved towards Central Java and East Java. Meanwhile,\nvehicles heading west, such as to West Java, Banten, and Sumatra,\nreached 22 percent.<\/p>",
