DPR Commission I member Nurul Arifin has expressed support for the\nenergy-saving policy in the parliamentary complex. However, she warned\nthat the savings should not disrupt the performance of lawmakers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope the energy efficiency policy does not interfere with the\nDPR\u2019s legislative, oversight, and budgetary functions,\u201d said Nurul\nArifin in a written statement quoted on Sunday, 29 March 2026.<\/p>\n
The Golkar Party politician assessed that energy efficiency through\nlimiting electricity use and fuel oil for official vehicles of echelon\nI-III in the DPR could be emulated by the public. She hoped it would be\nfollowed by society to use energy more wisely amid the Middle East\nconflict threatening a crisis of non-renewable natural resources.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe fully support the energy efficiency policy programme in the\nparliamentary environment for all parliament members, civil servants,\nand support staff in the parliamentary environment and will discipline\nourselves in implementing this policy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Nurul Arifin also agreed with the work-from-home plan conveyed by DPR\nSecretary General Indra Iskandar. According to her, the WFH scheme will\neffectively reduce energy use because it does not require travel to the\noffice.<\/p>\n
Previously, Indra Iskandar stated that his institution had formulated\nways to save energy in response to the rise in world oil prices.\nAccording to Indra, the three main focuses of savings by the DPR General\nSecretariat are limiting BBM use, regulating electricity use in the DPR\nbuilding, and tightening official travel rules.<\/p>\n
The BBM use restriction applies to echelon I to III officials using\nofficial vehicles with a savings target of Rp 1.5 billion. In the\nfuture, a Radio Frequency Identification-based BBM control system will\nbe implemented, in the form of real-time identification and monitoring\ntechnology for BBM distribution via RFID labels attached to\nvehicles.<\/p>\n
Indra also opened the possibility of implementing a work-from-home\npolicy specifically on Fridays. \u201cIf on Fridays we implement WFH, then\nthe employee shuttle bus does not need to operate. This will certainly\nbe a significant efficiency potential,\u201d said Indra quoted from the DPR\nwebsite\u2019s written statement on Saturday, 28 March 2026.<\/p>\n
Then, electricity savings in the DPR Complex will begin with\nscheduled power outages starting at 18:00 WIB. According to Indra, this\nstep can save electrical energy when there are only a few workers at\nnight. This saving will impact overall building operations, including\nthe use of lifts and other facilities.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the DPR Setjen has decided to select its employees\u2019\nofficial travels. Where official travels that do not have high urgency\nwill be limited or switched to virtual meetings. \u201cFor activities with\nhigh urgency such as discussing draft laws or public hearings that\nrequire direct presence, we will still facilitate them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Indra explained that this policy was discussed before the 2026 Eid\nal-Fitr holiday by the Building and Residence Management Bureau together\nwith the General Bureau of the DPR Setjen. This saving policy will be\nimplemented after the Lebaran holiday until the end of the 2026 fiscal\nyear.<\/p>\n
According to him, in the future this policy will be evaluated\nperiodically and additional efficiencies may be possible. He claimed\nthis policy will not disrupt the Setjen DPR\u2019s services to leaders and\ncouncil members.<\/p>\n
Moreover, he realised that the dynamics of DPR meetings are directly\nrelated to public interests that cannot be rigidly limited. \u201cCouncil\nmeetings concern public interests, so their timing is very dynamic and\ncannot be restricted.
