        "content": "<p>Parking lot for shoppers provided<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>City administration is preparing a 2.9-hectare plot of land in<br>\nthe Waduk Melati area, Central Jakarta, as a temporary parking<br>\nlot for visitors to Tanah Abang market in order to ease the flow<br>\nof traffic around the market and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p>It is also to provide 10 shuttle buses to take visitors from<br>\nthe parking lot to the market, free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Sutiyoso stressed that starting Monday, all cars<br>\nbelonging to shoppers would be prohibited from parking at the<br>\nmarket and on side streets leading to the market.<\/p>\n<p>\"I do not want to see cars parked at the market and on the<br>\nstreet, especially on Jl. KH Mas Mansyur, as they cause serious<br>\ntraffic problems,\" Sutiyoso said after visiting the parking lot<br>\non Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He ordered officials at the City Transportation Agency to tow<br>\nany cars parked in prohibited areas, if their owners did not heed<br>\nwarnings.<\/p>\n<p>The 2.9-hectare land is part of a 5.3-hectare plot in Waduk<br>\nMelati owned by the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA)<br>\nthat has been leased to the administration. The temporary parking<br>\nlot will be used until Tanah Abang market has been restored,<br>\nwhile the administration will build a business center on the<br>\nremaining 2.4-hectare land.<\/p>\n<p>President Director Prabowo Soenirman of city-owned market<br>\noperator PD Pasar Jaya said the parking lot would hold about<br>\n1,500 cars.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo said the reconstruction of Tanah Abang market would<br>\nbegin in early December after the Idul Fitri holiday and is<br>\nexpected to finish within 14 to 16 months.<\/p>\n<p>About 2,400 kiosks in the market, deemed the largest textile<br>\nmarket in Southeast Asia, were destroyed by fire in February.<\/p>",
