Parents track kids online<\/p>\n
SINGAPORE (DPA): A Singapore childcare center said on
\nWednesday that it has become the first in Southeast Asia to
\nprovide parents with the opportunity to log onto the Internet to
\ncheck on their offspring from anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n
The Cambridge Child Development Center has placed video
\ncameras in the school's play area, dining room and classrooms.<\/p>\n
Moms and dads are able to view live videos at home, work or
\nfrom other countries by logging onto the facility's website.<\/p>\n
The service enables parents to feel more confident of the care
\ngiven to their children, said May Soh, executive director of the
\nInformatics Group Singapore, which owns the center.<\/p>\n
The center became the first to offer the online service after
\nanother facility, Kids Junction, scrapped a similar plan when
\nparents expressed objections.<\/p>\n
Some of the Kids Junction parents said it would be an
\nintrusion into the lives of their children. Others objected to
\nvideos of their offspring on the Internet, citing concerns of
\nhacking and unauthorized access.<\/p>",
