JAKARTA: Commission E of the City Council overseeing education
\nand social affairs called on the public to file a report with the
\ncommission if they find any state-run schools imposing admission
\nfees.<\/p>\n
Commission secretary Audi I.Z. Tambunan said on Wednesday that
\nthe commission had the right to take action against such schools.<\/p>\n
\"If there are state-run schools charging admission fees,
\nparents should report them to the commission,\" he said. \"We will
\nrecommend that the administration penalize those schools.\"<\/p>\n
State-run schools in Jakarta do not charge admission fees.
\nStudents need only pay monthly tuition fees and a development
\ndonation, which is set by the school board, comprising parents

JAKARTA: A Nigerian citizen was arrested for drug dealing at
\nPetamburan II hotel in Petamburan, Central Jakarta, police said
\non Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Chief of City Police Narcotics unit Adj. Sr. Comr. Anjan P.
\nPutra said that the suspect, Nze Chukwudi John, was nabbed in
\nfront of room 208.<\/p>\n
Police seized 100 grams of heroin from him, which was
\nconcealed in his underwear.<\/p>\n
\"We caught him by using another suspect as bait,\" said Anjan.<\/p>\n
He said John was a drug trafficker known to swallow packaged
\nheroin to avoid security checks when smuggling the drug into the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
Police alleged that John had smuggled around one kilogram of
\nheroin into the country and had sold most of the heroin in the
\ncapital, where he has been staying for two months.<\/p>\n
John denied all allegations, saying that he was in Jakarta to

JAKARTA: A 23-year-old woman, Rustini, was set on by an angry
\ncrowed after being caught red-handed picking the pocket of a
\ntrader at the Cipinang rice center in East Jakarta, police
\nreported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The incident took place at 11 a.m. when Parsiyem, 74, a
\nbottled drink vendor at the market, was busy serving her
\ncustomers.<\/p>\n
Rustini mingled with the throng of customers surrounding the
\nvendor, and attempted to steal Parsiyem's purse from her pocket.<\/p>\n
Rustini, however, was spotted by one of the customers, who
\nthen cried out a warning after which Rustini was mobbed by the
\ncrowd.<\/p>\n
Rustini only suffered minor injuries and was later taken to
\nthe Pulo Gadung police subprecinct for questioning. -- JP<\/p>",
