        "content": "<p>Jayapura \u2014 The Papua Provincial Government has announced that 2,400\npassengers have utilised the Free Travel Programme in observance of\nRamadan 1447 Hijriah.<\/p>\n<p>The Acting Head of the Papua Transportation Office, Mathius Wally,\nstated in Jayapura on Wednesday that the Provincial Government\u2019s Free\nTravel Programme operates under two schemes: intra-Papua services and\ninter-island return journeys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor intra-Papua travel, we have reached approximately 2,400\npassengers from a total quota of 8,900,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mathius, the intra-Papua service, implemented in\ncooperation with transport operators, has already served thousands of\npassengers on numerous routes including Jayapura\u2013Biak, Jayapura\u2013Serui,\nBiak\u2013Serui, Waropen, and Nabire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe free intra-Papua travel programme will continue throughout the\nreturn period, scheduled to end on 30 March 2026, with the possibility\nof adjustment until 1 April 2026,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>For the return journey component, the government is collaborating\nwith state-owned maritime enterprises. This programme targets residents\ntravelling to and from destinations outside Papua.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor return journeys, we have a quota of approximately 1,000\npassengers distributed across several Pelni shipping routes, with\ndeparture and arrival points including Jayapura and Biak ports,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n<p>He further noted that the return quota is aligned with operational\nship schedules, and urged residents to register promptly as places are\nlimited and demand is high.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope this free travel programme will assist residents in reducing\ntransportation costs and support smooth mobility during the Ramadan\nperiod,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>",
