        "content": "<p>Papua lacks skilled workers<\/p>\n<p>MANOKWARI, Papua: Some 70 percent of workers in Papua neither<br>\ngraduated from elementary school nor had any education at all<br>\ndespite its wealth of natural resources, Governor JP Salossa<br>\nrevealed on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Salossa, the poor record was attributable to lack<br>\nof access to education facilities, as many Papuans lived in<br>\nremote areas.<\/p>\n<p>He said the poor education would hamper Papuans from competing<br>\nwith migrants from other provinces or expatriates in search of<br>\njobs.<\/p>\n<p>It is feared that the less qualified Papuans may turn into a<br>\nmass of unemployed people, which later on could trigger social<br>\nunrest.<\/p>\n<p>Salossa said nine-year compulsory education and free tuition<br>\nfor children would be his administration's top priority, in a bid<br>\nto produce more skilled and educated human resources.
