        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com \u2014 Access to home ownership in the Papua region is\nincreasingly opening up alongside the rising distribution of housing\nfinancing by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) through the\nKredit Program Perumahan (KPP) and Fasilitas Likuiditas Pembiayaan\nPerumahan (FLPP) schemes.<\/p>\n<p>As of 27 April 2026, BRI\u2019s KPP disbursement in Papua reached Rp 258.9\nbillion to 610 debtors. This financing is considered one of the drivers\nof access to decent housing for low-income communities, especially in\neastern Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBRI proves itself as a state-owned enterprise that is pro-people,\nespecially pro-small people with very high absorption of housing KUR,\u201d\nsaid the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas of the Republic of\nIndonesia, Maruarar Sirait, during a press conference in Sorong on\nMonday (27\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven this is only April and it\u2019s not over yet, the quota is already\nstarting to run out,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>From the total disbursement, Rp 174.4 billion was allocated to the\nsupply side and Rp 84.5 billion to the demand side. The distribution of\nfinancing is dominated by Papua Province at 28.03 percent, followed by\nWest Papua at 16.76 percent, Central Papua at 14.76 percent, and South\nPapua at 13.83 percent. The rest is spread across Papua Pegunungan and\nSouthwest Papua.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President wants the state to be present in places where poor\ncommunities are, in areas where homes are not habitable,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will soon carry out improvements,\u201d she emphasised.<\/p>\n<p>The renovation programme targets at least 21,000 homes in six\nprovinces in Papua, spread across 42 regencies\/cities.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the government is also promoting Kredit Usaha Rakyat\n(KUR) Housing for UMKM-scale developers with a ceiling of up to Rp 20\nbillion and an interest subsidy of 5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tito\nKarnavian, added that this financing programme is expected to reach\ncommunities that do not yet have homes, especially in areas with high\nhousing needs such as Papua.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis programme cannot be maximal if it only relies on regional\nbudgets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt needs support from the central government and collaboration from\nall parties to reach all levels of society,\u201d Tito continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBRI sees the potential demand in eastern Indonesia, especially\nPapua, as still very large,\u201d he stated.<\/p>",
