        "content": "<p>The Provincial Government of Papua, through its local Health Office,\nis currently focusing malaria control efforts on strengthening early\ndetection via the Find, Treat, and Control Risk Factors (Token)\nProgramme. Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Health Office, Beeri\nWopari, stated in Jayapura on Wednesday that the Token Programme is one\nof the local government\u2019s main strategies to reduce malaria transmission\nrates in Papua. \u201cThe approach used in the Token programme emphasises\nfinding cases as early as possible and ensuring sufferers receive prompt\ntreatment,\u201d he said. According to Beeri, the Token programme is\nimplemented through several health interventions in the field, such as\nindoor residual spraying, mass blood surveys, capacity building for\nlaboratory personnel, and the provision of malaria drugs at health\nservice facilities. \u201cWe are also strengthening environmental monitoring\nby targeting areas that have the potential to become breeding grounds\nfor malaria mosquitoes,\u201d he said. He explained that everything from\npuddles of water to vulnerable areas will be cleaned regularly to break\nthe disease transmission cycle. \u201cMalaria control cannot be carried out\nby the health sector alone; it requires cross-sector involvement,\nincluding local government, village officials, and active community\nparticipation,\u201d he added. He noted that by strengthening the Token\nProgramme, his office hopes malaria elimination efforts can run more\neffectively, especially in endemic areas that remain a major challenge\nin tackling this vector-borne disease. \u201cThe local government also urges\nthe public to actively maintain environmental cleanliness and\nimmediately seek examination at health facilities if they experience\nfever symptoms indicative of malaria, in order to prevent complications\nand further transmission,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
