        "content": "<p>Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia \u2013 The Lebaran Iddulfitri holiday is closely\nassociated with the mudik tradition, a mass movement that consistently\ngenerates significant spikes in Indonesia\u2019s national economic\nactivity.<\/p>\n<p>Millions of homecoming travellers move simultaneously from economic\ncentres to regional areas each year. The Lebaran mudik has the potential\nto boost consumption across transportation, energy, tourism, food and\nbeverage, and local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises\n(MSMEs).<\/p>\n<p>This phenomenon has transformed mudik from merely a cultural\ntradition into a strategic economic moment that reflects Indonesia\u2019s\ngenuine economic pulse.<\/p>\n<p>The potential for economic circulation during the Lebaran holiday is\nsubstantial, supported by the large number of travellers. Infrastructure\nand Regional Development Coordinating Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono\nhas predicted that 143.9 million people will travel during the 2026\nLebaran break.<\/p>\n<p>The first peak exodus is estimated to occur on 14 and 15 March 2026,\nwhilst the second peak is projected for 18 and 19 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The government has provided stimulus to boost economic growth during\nthe 2026 Lebaran holiday. One such initiative is the BINA (Belanja di\nIndonesia Aja \u2013 Shop in Indonesia Only) Lebaran 2026 programme. Running\nfor 25 days from 6 to 30 March 2026, it involves approximately 380\ncompanies, 800 brands, and over 80,000 retail outlets across various\nregions of Indonesia.
