        "content": "<p>The Pangkalpinang city government in Bangka Belitung province will\nmandate junior high school (SMP) students and equivalents to learn to\nread the Quran at mosques. The policy is issued to prevent and curb\njuvenile delinquency in the Pangkalpinang area. \u201cJunior high school\nstudents and equivalents must be at the mosque to learn Arabic and read\nthe Quran,\u201d said Pangkalpinang Mayor Saparudin, quoted by Antara on\nSunday (10\/5). He stated that the religious guidance and Quran reading\nprogramme for junior high school students and equivalents is focused on\nmosques throughout Pangkalpinang city, to shape a generation with\ncharacter, morals, and civility, thereby preventing juvenile delinquency\nin the area. \u201cThese students will learn to recite and Arabic starting\nafter Maghrib until Isha is completed at the mosque, so they can avoid\nnegative things,\u201d he said. According to him, this programme not only\nshapes students\u2019 character but also serves as an effort by the city\ngovernment to enliven the mosques in Pangkalpinang city. \u201cHopefully,\nthis programme will be effectively implemented starting early 2027, so\nit can reduce children\u2019s outdoor activities that are not beneficial and\njuvenile delinquency in this area,\u201d he said. He hopes that the\nInstitution for the Development and Development of Quran Kindergarten\n(LPPTKA) of the DPD of the Indonesian Mosque Youth Communication Agency\n(BKPRMI) in Pangkalpinang city will support this programme, so that\nthese children can avoid negative influences. \u201cThe students who\ngraduated today have not finished learning to read the Quran, and they\nwill continue learning Arabic and reciting before Maghrib until Isha at\nthe mosque,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
