        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2013 Comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono has expressed hope that a\nreport filed against him regarding stand-up comedy material considered\noffensive to the Toraja ethnic group can be resolved through a\nrestorative justice approach.<\/p>\n<p>Pragiwaksono reasoned that he has already undergone a traditional\nadat hearing with the Toraja community regarding his conduct.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy hope is indeed that restorative justice be prioritised, because\ndialogue between myself and legitimate representatives of the Toraja\ncommunity has already taken place,\u201d said Pragiwaksono following his\nexamination by the Police Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim\nPolri) on Monday, 9 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Pragiwaksono stated that during today\u2019s examination, investigators\nquestioned him extensively regarding his participation in the adat\nhearing in Toraja.<\/p>\n<p>According to Pragiwaksono, the traditional hearing he participated in\nconstituted a legitimate form of mediation as it was attended by\nrepresentatives from all adat regions in Toraja.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the adat hearing was attended by representatives\nfrom 32 adat regions and seven traditional judges who presided over the\nproceedings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll adat regions in Toraja were represented, with delegates present,\nand the seven chief judges also attended. So that is a legitimate and\nproper mediation process because it was complete,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Pragiwaksono acknowledged that he has not yet been informed whether\ninvestigators will summon him for further examination.<\/p>\n<p>However, he emphasised that he would comply with the entire legal\nprocess and is confident that the matter will find clarity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe this will all find resolution. I\u2019ll just follow through\nthe process. I have confidence in the process underway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on social media platform X, human rights advocate\nNatalius Pigai remarked: \u201cThe legal process against Pandji Pragiwaksono\nfalls within police jurisdiction, which we respect. However, law\nenforcement also requires wisdom and discretion in the form of\nrestorative justice. The important thing is that Pandji Pragiwaksono has\nalready received social punishment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, Director of Cybercrime at\nBareskrim Polri, had previously stated that investigators had questioned\nseveral witnesses and experts to examine the case in detail.<\/p>",
