Panarub workers rally for JPK<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: Some 300 workers of PT Panarub, a company that
\nproduces Adidas shoes in Pasar Baru, Tangerang municipality,
\nstaged a rally at the factory compound on Friday to demand health
\nallowances (JPK).<\/p>\n
The rally degenerated into a clash with dozens of security
\npersonnel and management staff when the latter tried to block the
\nworkers' way into the factory.<\/p>\n
No one was injured during the clash because several police
\nofficers managed to calm the angry workers.<\/p>\n
As the rally started at 1 p.m, the workers, from the Shoe
\nFactory Workers Association (Perbupas) stood in rows for two
\nhours at the factory gate. While carrying dozens of posters and
\nbanners, they sang labor movement songs and made speeches to
\nexpress their demands.<\/p>\n
\"We have repeatedly delivered our demands in a written
\nstatement to the management and have even asked the municipal
\nmanpower agency to force the management to accede to them, but to
\nno avail,\" Ngadinah, Perbupas secretary told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
The management promised to award the JPK to workers last
\nDecember, but they had demanded it in July last year, she said,
\nadding that the workers had long been awaiting the JPK
