Deputy Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Viva Yoga Mauladi\nstated that the remarks by political analyst Saiful Mujani regarding\nefforts to topple President Prabowo Subianto need not be overly\nconcerning. According to him, Mujani\u2019s views are merely like foam in the\nocean.<\/p>\n
\u201cSaiful Mujani\u2019s statement does not need to be taken too seriously,\nas it is just like foam in the ocean, not a wave,\u201d said Viva when\ncontacted on Wednesday (8\/4).<\/p>\n
Viva said that oppositional narratives and thoughts like Mujani\u2019s\nwill always exist and develop in every national leadership regime.<\/p>\n
According to him, in democratic theory, this will lead to dynamic\nchecks and balances.<\/p>\n
\u201cPAN believes that the majority of Indonesian society appreciates and\nis satisfied with President Prabowo\u2019s performance. This can be seen from\nseveral survey results. PAN will continue to strive together with\nPresident Prabowo to fulfil the promises of independence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Viva, who also serves as Deputy Minister of Transmigration, considers\nit normal if there are shortcomings or protests from certain parties in\nPrabowo\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n
He said managing a country with an area of 5.2 million square\nkilometres and a population of 288 million people requires strong,\nvisionary leadership and modern, integrative, participatory, and\nproductive development management.<\/p>\n
Viva opined that Mujani\u2019s statement will not have a significant\nimpact on influencing the national political climate. According to him,\nas an intellectual, Mujani does not have a large and fanatical mass\nbase, unlike Nurcholish Madjid or Gus Dur.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn intellectual should use knowledge and critical reasoning to\nunderstand, criticise, and guide societal life. They should side with\nthe truth and have integrity in real life,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya had previously responded to\nSaiful Mujani\u2019s statement calling for the overthrow of the government.\nHe claimed not to know about Mujani\u2019s statement yet.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have a lot of work, I haven\u2019t seen what he said,\u201d said Teddy at\nthe Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (7\/4).<\/p>\n
\u201cEspecially the President, the President is handling big matters,\nfocusing on more strategic things,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Saiful Mujani stated that his call for consolidation to\ntopple President Prabowo Subianto is not a form of treason, but part of\na political stance.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe question is whether my statement can be called treason? I\nemphasise that it is not treason, but political engagement, namely a\npolitical stance or statement made about political issues in front of\nmany people. The politics in that event mainly relates to President\nPrabowo\u2019s performance,\u201d said Mujani in a written statement.<\/p>\n
He explained that a political stance is one level below political\nparticipation or political action. Political participation, he said, is\nthe core of democracy. Mujani stated that there is no democracy without\npolitical participation.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolitical participation or actions aimed at the public interest take\nmany forms. For example, voting in elections, campaigning, donating to\nparties or candidates, participating in political actions like\ndemonstrations, strikes, sabotage, and so on, done peacefully.\nPeacefully bringing down the president is political participation.
