PAM to develop ready-to-drink water<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): City-owned water company PAM Jaya plans to
\nprovide consumers with ready-to-drink water its in efforts to
\nimprove services to the public.<\/p>\n
The head of the potable water team, Agus Tabrani, said over
\nthe weekend that during its first stage, potable water will only
\nbe made available to victims of natural disasters.<\/p>\n
\"The water will be distributed to areas which have been
\nravaged by floods, fires or other natural disasters. Hopefully,
\nthe service will be able to help them,\" Tabrani said.<\/p>\n
As the pilot project, he said, PAM Jaya distributed ready-to-
\ndrink water to 30,000 participants of the National Scouts
\nJamboree in Cibubur, East Jakarta, which was held from June 26 to
\nJuly 4.<\/p>\n
Tabrani said the company operated a mobile clean water
\ntreatment machine, which can produce eight cubic meters per hour,
\nin the camping ground. He said tap water is processed into ready-
\nto-drink water in the treatment machine.<\/p>\n
\"With such a machine, the scouts can drink water straight from
\nthe taps,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Tabrani said that the water has been checked by the Ministry
\nof Health's laboratory and is officially certified, meeting the
\nhygiene requirements set by Minister of Health Decree No.
\n416\/1990.<\/p>\n
He added that laboratory officers checked the water every hour
\nto make sure that the quality of the potable water was good. (yns)<\/p>",
