        "content": "<p>Palu (ANTARA) - Long queues of vehicles formed at several public\npetrol stations (SPBU) in Palu City, Central Sulawesi, as residents\nsought to refuel after a magnitude 6.7 earthquake shook the region on\nTuesday. At a number of SPBUs, dozens of cars and motorcycles were seen\nqueuing to fill up shortly after the quake struck, including at the SPBU\non Jalan Imam Bonjol and Sisingamangaraja. Residents with vehicles\nappeared to crowd the petrol stations due to concerns over possible\naftershocks and emergency mobility needs. Rahmat Arsyad, a Palu\nresident, admitted he headed straight to an SPBU to fill his vehicle\u2019s\ntank after feeling the strong tremors. \u201cAfter the earthquake earlier, I\nimmediately filled up with fuel because I was worried about aftershocks\nand having to move to a safer place. The queue was also quite long\nbecause many residents had the same idea,\u201d he said. Another resident,\nAkbar Aba, noted that increased queues occurred at several SPBUs he\npassed after the earthquake. \u201cMany vehicles entered the SPBU. Perhaps\npeople want to be prepared so their vehicles are ready to use at any\ntime,\u201d he said. Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics\nAgency (BMKG) reported that a magnitude 6.7 earthquake shook the Central\nSulawesi region at 10:27 WITA. The epicentre was located approximately\n42 kilometres southeast of Palu City at a depth of 10 kilometres. BMKG\nalso recorded dozens of aftershocks until midday, urging the public to\nremain alert but not panic and to follow official information from\nrelevant authorities. As of now, some residents are still choosing to\nstay in open areas and prepare emergency supplies, including ensuring\nfuel availability for vehicles to anticipate possible post-earthquake\nemergency situations. Head of the Palu City Transportation Department,\nTrisno Yunianto, said that access to the Palu III Bridge is temporarily\nclosed because parts of the bridge experienced problems after being\nshaken by the earthquake. The Palu city government and local police are\nimplementing traffic engineering by preparing alternative routes. \u201cSigns\nhave been installed. Officers from the police and transportation\ndepartment have also been deployed to manage traffic flow.
