The Palmerah sub-district head in West Jakarta has proposed revoking the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) education aid for two vocational students arrested for stabbing a peer. The official cited existing regulations that allow for the withdrawal of provincial education assistance due to criminal behaviour. He also raised concerns about increased idle time among students ahead of school holidays as a contributing factor to youth violence.

Two students with the initials AS and MF have been arrested by police
for the stabbing of a fellow student, identified as F, in Palmerah, West
Jakarta. Palmerah Sub-district Head Febriandi Suharto has raised the
possibility of sanctions involving the revocation of the Jakarta Smart
Card (KJP) for the two vocational school perpetrators. “In accordance
with existing regulations, there is a clause that provincial education
assistance programmes can be withdrawn for students whose behaviour is
deemed unacceptable,” Febriandi said, as quoted by Antara on Thursday
(11/6/2026). Febriandi explained that the administrative sanction of
revoking the education aid would be recommended directly by the
perpetrators’ schools. However, the recommendation can only be issued
after the official results of the investigation by law enforcement
authorities are available. “Of course, this must follow the applicable
rules. The recommendation from the school will be based on the
investigation conducted by the police,” he stated. Beyond highlighting
the KJP revocation sanction, Febriandi assessed that the violent
incident occurred amid a reduction in teaching and learning activities
ahead of the school holidays. He noted that the large amount of
unstructured free time among students is a factor that needs to be
anticipated. “The idle time of our children and younger siblings is
something we need to anticipate together to prevent such incidents.
Together with the Education Agency, we will try to reach out to schools
in the coming days to provide guidance,” he said. The sub-district,
along with the four-pillar elements (government, military, police, and
community), will also tighten routine security patrols on Saturday
nights and Wednesdays. Additionally, daytime surveillance around school
areas will be increased to anticipate potential friction between
students. Palmerah Police Sector officers apprehended the two vocational
students, AS and MF, while they were taking exams at their school on
Wednesday (10/6). The two were arrested after being proven to have
stabbed another student, F, in Gang T, Palmerah Barat VI, on Tuesday
(9/6) morning. As a result of the attack, which involved a belt and a
sickle, the victim F suffered a laceration on his right shoulder and
required seven stitches at the hospital. Palmerah Police Sector
confirmed that the legal process will proceed with reference to the
Child Protection Law for the underage perpetrators.
",
