Stasiun Palmerah in Jakarta offers an affordable and secure motorcycle parking service for those travelling home during the Eid holiday, with rates starting at Rp 10,000 for the first 24 hours and Rp 15,000 thereafter, making it a cheaper alternative to larger stations like Senen or Gambir. The facility, though limited by space, accommodates around 15 motorcycles and is popular among daily commuters as well, integrating seamlessly with the KRL train network for easy onward travel. This service addresses a key concern for Jakarta residents regarding vehicle security during the Lebaran period, supporting smoother mobility in the capital's transport system.

One of the concerns for those travelling home from the capital is
motor vehicles that are vulnerable to theft during the Eid holiday
period. For Jakarta residents planning to return to their hometowns and
seeking a safe place to leave their two-wheeled vehicles, Palmerah
Station can serve as an affordable and relatively secure alternative for
motorcycle storage. Firman, one of the staff at Palmerah Station, stated
that the station provides an official overnight parking facility that
can be utilised by travellers. “Yes, at Palmerah Station, we do have an
overnight parking service for passengers, so they can leave their
motorcycles here overnight during the Eid exodus,” said Firman when met
by Kompas.com at the location on Friday (20/3/2026). “However, the
limitation at Palmerah Station is the small parking area, not as large
as other stations like Senen or Gambir,” he added. So far, around 15
motorcycles have been left overnight at Palmerah Station’s parking area.
According to Firman, one of the main attractions of the overnight
parking facility at Palmerah Station and other KRL stations is the rate,
which is considered quite affordable. He compared the parking costs at
Palmerah Station with those at parking pockets around major intercity
stations, which tend to be more expensive. “The rate here is actually
cheaper compared to Pasar Senen or Gambir Stations. At Pasar Senen or
Gambir, especially with many unofficial parking options, it can reach Rp
50,000 per day, per 24 hours,” Firman explained. “Here, for overnight
parking, the first 24 hours is Rp 10,000, then after that it’s Rp 15,000
per day. So, for example, from Friday to Monday, the total would be
around Rp 40,000,” he clarified. This motorcycle storage facility is not
only busy during the Eid season. On regular days, the parking area is
also a mainstay for commuter workers. According to Firman, the
established trust keeps the overnight parking service at Palmerah
Station in demand. “It’s busy here not just for the exodus; on regular
days, many workers also leave their motorcycles overnight. So if their
homes are far, they store them here overnight,” he said. For travellers,
the parking location at KRL stations is also considered strategic
because it integrates with other modes of transport and facilitates
journeys to major departure stations with minimal additional costs. “So
they come from home by motorcycle, leave it here, then continue to Pasar
Senen or Gambir Stations by KRL. It’s only around Rp 3,000,” Firman
concluded.
",
