Palki restaurant<\/p>\n
On Feb. 5, 1995, Sunday, we went for dinner at the Palki
\nrestaurant in Jakarta for the first time. We had a terrible
\nexperience. First of all the waiter brought a menu which didn't
\nlist prices. One can make out right away that it's not the right
\nplace to eat. We had to request that the waiter give us a menu
\nwith prices listed. He brought it.<\/p>\n
We ordered chicken curry, he brought sweet and sour chicken
\ncurry. I told him I am unable to eat anything sweet for health
\nreasons. The waiter walked away and never came back. Then I
\ntalked to the lady at the front desk and told her I would like to
\ntalk to the manager about my food. She said sorry, the manager
\nhad gone to India. I asked her about the Assistant Manager, who
\nshe said wasn't there either. So they expected us to eat whatever
\nthey had served us. Finally we left without eating the food and
\npaid the bill.<\/p>\n
Nowadays there is a new fashion in a few restaurants (Indian).
\nThey have big TV screens and they show Indian video clips, so the
\nstaff and customers seem busy watching TV. Their minds and eyes
\nare on the screen. They don't care what kind of food or service
\none gets. People do care for good food, good service and a quiet
\natmosphere, all three were missing in Palki restaurant.<\/p>\n
