JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has expressed his\ndeepest condolences over the deaths of three TNI soldiers who were part\nof the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).<\/p>\n
Regarding the news of the deaths of three of our TNI soldiers who\nwere carrying out duties as members of the peacekeeping force in\nLebanon, representing the President, we the government convey our\ndeepest condolences,\u201d said Prasetyo in a video sent to the media on\nTuesday (31\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
Prasetyo stated that the government has also conveyed its stance\nthrough Foreign Minister Sugiono regarding the incident.<\/p>\n
The government, he said, regrets this incident and has requested that\nthe relevant authorities conduct an investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe, as State Secretary, have also coordinated with the Minister of\nDefense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the TNI Commander,\nin carrying out the best efforts for the repatriation of the bodies of\nthe three fallen soldiers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
This coordination also provides directions to the soldiers still\nguarding UNIFIL.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the same time, providing briefing to all troops and soldiers\nstill on duty in the field to increase vigilance. Once again, we\ncertainly feel a great loss and deep sorrow,\u201d said Prasetyo.<\/p>\n
This adds to the list of fallen TNI soldiers, bringing the total to\nthree members.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the incident, two TNI soldiers were reported killed, while two\nothers suffered severe injuries. The injured soldiers are currently\nreceiving intensive medical treatment at a health facility in Beirut,\u201d\nsaid Head of Information of the Ministry of Defense Secretariat General\nBrigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait in a press release on Tuesday\n(31\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
He added that the incident occurred amid increasing intensity of\nfighting in the area.<\/p>\n
To date, the exact cause of the incident is still being investigated\nby UNIFIL according to the applicable mechanisms.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Defense and TNI\ncontinues to coordinate with the UNIFIL headquarters to ensure the\nsafety of all personnel and to guarantee the best handling for the\nvictims.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvacuation and medical handling measures have also been carried out\nquickly in accordance with United Nations operational procedures,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n
