        "content": "<p>PAL starts Davao-HK flight<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): Philippine Airlines (PAL) started yesterday<br>\ntwice-weekly flights from Davao to Hong Kong, a spokesman said<br>\nhere.<\/p>\n<p>The initial flight saw a PAL Airbus A300 take off from Davao,<br>\nthe main trading city of the southern Philippines, make a<br>\nstopover at the central island of Cebu and then proceed to Hong<br>\nKong, the PAL spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p>The new Davao to Hong Kong flights will be in addition to the<br>\npresent thrice-daily flights from the Philippine capital of<br>\nManila to Hong Kong and the twice-weekly flights from Cebu to<br>\nHong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>PAL chairman Carlos Dominguez was quoted in a statement as<br>\nsaying the new Davao-Hong Kong service was part of an effort to<br>\nexpand the southern city's trading links and promote President<br>\nFidel Ramos's plan to turn it into one of the pillars of the East<br>\nASEAN Growth Area.<\/p>",
