        "content": "<p>PAL, Lufthansa mull tieup<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Deutsche Lufthansa<br>\nAG are discussing a joint cargo service agreement from November<br>\n1, the Filipino carrier said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed \"block space agreement\" will enable the ailing<br>\nPhilippine flag-carrier to regain a foothold in the European<br>\nmarket which it abandoned in June 1998 due to the Asian financial<br>\ncrisis, PAL said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Under the proposed accord PAL would buy space on Lufthansa's<br>\nthrice-weekly cargo flights from Manila to Frankfurt, the<br>\nstatement said.<\/p>\n<p>PAL expects to take a market share in the shipment of products<br>\nassembled in the Philippines by European firms such as Siemens of<br>\nGermany, Alcatel of France, Asea Brown Boveri of Sweden and Cable<br>\nand Wireless of Britain, the statement said.<\/p>",
