Overpass project financed by Japan<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: The Tangerang Regency will begin the construction
\nof two overpasses in the Ciputat and Balaraja districts worth Rp
\n90 billion (US$10.5 million) and Rp 50 billion respectively.<\/p>\n
The Japan-Indonesia Corporation Agent (JICA) will be the
\nconsultant for both projects, which will be financed with
\nJapanese loans through the Ministry of Resettlement and Regional
\nInfrastructure.<\/p>\n
\"It's been two years since Banten Governor Djoko Munandar
\npromised to finance the projects. But we can't wait any longer
\nbecause the overpasses are badly needed to handle chronic traffic
\ncongestion in both areas,\" Tangerang Regent Ismet Iskandar said
\non Saturday.<\/p>\n
The regency administration has allocated Rp 29 billion from

TANGERANG: Tangerang Mayor Wahidin Halim called on about 1,200
\nfactories in his territory to grow trees in and around their
\ngrounds in a bid to reduce air pollution resulting from the
\nindustry.<\/p>\n
\"Pollution in the Tangerang municipality has been worsening.
\nBy growing trees in the factories' yards, businesses can help the
\ncity protect its environment,\" he said on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Some non-governmental organizations have criticized industries
\nin the area for their lack of attention to the environment around
\ntheir factories.<\/p>\n
\"As an industrial city, the environment is an issue that must
\nbe addressed seriously by businesses because they have
