Overcrowded buses<\/p>\n

A top police official called on city bus drivers recently to
\nstop overcrowding city buses so that they could close the bus
\ndoors in line with the new regulation.<\/p>\n
This sounds right but if there is a ruling to regulate the
\nmaximum number of passengers in a bus why do traffic policemen
\nlet overcrowded buses pass in front of their eyes in bus
\nterminals to begin with?<\/p>\n
Isn't this silent consent? A feeling shared by us all,
\npassengers, drivers and the public alike?<\/p>\n
As a regular commuter I am always grateful of the bus drivers'
\nwillingness to give me a ride to an overcrowded bus and to the
\ntraffic police for not stopping the bus and asking the passengers
\nto get off.<\/p>\n
And why do the authorities allow trains to carry passengers
\nexceeding their maximum capacities? There are trains with
\npassengers overflowing onto their rooftops.<\/p>\n
In simple economic terms this is known as supply not meeting
\ndemand. Since public transport is cheap, me and the common people
\nhappily opt to use this means of transportation though it often
\nmeans traveling in overcrowded wagons while standing up.<\/p>\n
It would be wonderful if the government or those conglomerates
\nwho have concerns over social issues would provide more
\ntransportation means so that those buses and trains can close
\ntheir doors, keeping with the new traffic regulation.<\/p>\n
