Situbondo (ANTARA) - Hundreds of thousands of residents and selawat\nnariyah congregants from various regions recited selawat together and\nprayed for a better nation during the Haul Masyayikh event at Situbondo\nRegency Square, East Java, on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Situbondo Regent and chairman of the Haul Masyayikh organising\ncommittee, Yusuf Rio Wahyu Prayogo, said the event not only offered\nprayers for deceased ulama, community figures and kiai from across the\narchipelago, but also honoured the struggles of their predecessors.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, the first hope in this Haul Masyayikh is to pray that the\nmasyayikh and community figures from across the archipelago receive\nblessings. Beyond that, we also pray for a better Indonesia,\u201d he told\njournalists in Situbondo.<\/p>\n
The prayers for the kiai, teachers and predecessors, Rio continued,\nwere led directly by the head of the Wali Songo Islamic Boarding School\nin Situbondo, KHR Moh Kholil As\u2019ad Syamsul Arifin.<\/p>\n
According to him, the Haul Masyayikh was attended by heads of Islamic\nboarding schools across East Java and selawat nariyah congregants from\nacross the archipelago, including from Jakarta, Kalimantan and various\nother regions of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event did not use funds from the regional budget (APBD), but\nrather came from contributions by all the selawat nariyah congregants,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the charismatic young ulama KH Muhammad Abdur Rahman Al\nKautsar, familiarly known as Gus Kautsar, who attended the Haul\nMasyayikh, urged all congregants to consistently practise the selawat\nnariyah.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow wise our teachers are \u2014 of the many selawat, the one recommended\nfor regular practice is selawat nariyah,\u201d he said in his sermon.<\/p>\n
By consistently practising selawat nariyah, Gus Kautsar continued,\nAllah will grant ease in whatever one desires or aspires to, and keep\none away from hardship and weakness.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is called nariyah because all our requests will be swiftly\ngranted by Allah SWT. No need for many repetitions \u2014 just eleven times a\nday, and God willing, our provisions will never run out,\u201d said the son\nof the head of the Al Falah Ploso Islamic Boarding School in Kediri,\nEast Java.<\/p>\n
Gus Kautsar added that all Muslims share the same desire, namely\nsalvation in this world and the hereafter, and therefore practising\nselawat nariyah will bring forgiveness from Allah SWT for one\u2019s\nwrongdoings.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are people who wish for salvation in this world and the\nhereafter. We commit many wrongs, are easily tempted and neglectful, but\nif we recite selawat abundantly, God willing, we will be saved and\nforgiven by Allah SWT,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
