Over 90 buildings to be demolished<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The West Jakarta mayoralty has ordered the
\ndemolition of 92 buildings, which are in violation of the
\ngovernment's regulation on city development.<\/p>\n
Chief of the mayoralty's development supervision agency Adi
\nSarnadi, said yesterday that the crackdown on unlawful buildings
\nwas part of the administration's drive to enforce discipline.<\/p>\n
Adi said that the mayoralty has reprimanded the management of
\n30 development projects for such violations as storing their
\nbuilding materials in the road causing traffic congestion.<\/p>\n
The mayoralty has sent letters to all developers in the city
\nto help maintain cleanliness at their project sites. It also
\nplans to embark on a judicial operation next week, in which
\npeople disturbing public order will be tried on the spot.<\/p>\n
\"Projects found to be violating any laws may have their
\npermits revoked,\" he said.<\/p>\n
This month the mayoralty has issued warnings to 110 owners of
\nhouses and torn down 13 for various violations. This year, it has
\ndemolished a total of 48 buildings.<\/p>\n
Among those demolished were brothels in the Kamal Barat
\nsubdistrict. Six buildings in the red-light district were leveled
