Over 7,000 condominium units marketed this year<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): More than 7,000 units of newly constructed
\ncondominiums will be marketed here this year.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian Association of Real Estate Brokers (AREBI)
\nannounced here on Saturday that about 4,000 condominium units
\nwere sold in Jakarta last year, of which 2,000 units were
\nmarketed through Association members.<\/p>\n
Association spokesperson, Indri Gessa, said two-thirds of the
\nhousing transactions through its members were marketed by
\ndomestic brokerage companies, with the remaining one-third
\nmarketed by firms affiliated to foreign companies.<\/p>\n
\"This means that domestic agents still dominate housing
\nmarketing in the capital,\" she said, while announcing the
\nAssociation's plan to organize a seminar here next week.<\/p>\n
Indri admitted that foreign-affiliated enterprises dominate
\nthe marketing of office buildings and space by about 80 percent.<\/p>\n
The Association's chairwoman, Cynthia G. Sonneville, and
\nadvisor Pingky E. Pangestu said that the group will hold the
\nseminar at the Sahid Jaya Hotel here on May 13 to discuss the
\nparticipation of real estate brokers in the property business.<\/p>\n
State Minister of Public Housing Akbar Tandjung is expected to
\ndeliver a keynote address at the meeting.<\/p>\n
Other speakers at the seminar will be Ciputra, the chairman of
\nJaya Group, James Riady, deputy chairman of Lippo Group, and
\nIndri Gessa, who is also director of PT Indo Pacific Property.
