        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com \u2014 The Jakarta Provincial Government is\naccelerating over 20 flood control projects targeted for completion by\n2027.<\/p>\n<p>The projects span various Jakarta areas, including the construction\nand enhancement of water pumps, retention ponds, reservoirs, river\nnormalisation, and coastal embankments.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta Water Resources Department (SDA) Head Ika Agustin stated the\nconstruction acceleration follows rising extreme rainfall in recent\nyears.<\/p>\n<p>She noted current flood control infrastructure typically handles only\n100\u2013150mm of rainfall.<\/p>\n<p>This condition leaves several areas vulnerable to flooding during\nextreme downpours.<\/p>\n<p>A key project involves constructing and upgrading water pump systems\nat 12 locations.<\/p>\n<p>These include the Bulak Cabe Pump with a capacity of 24 cubic metres\nper second,<\/p>\n<p>Pegangsaan Dua Pump at 9 cubic metres per second, and Cilincing KBN\nPump at 16 cubic metres per second.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition to new constructions, the capacity of Ancol Pump and\nIKIP Pump will also be increased,\u201d said Ika.<\/p>\n<p>The SDA is also working on constructing and repairing river and canal\ninfrastructure at eight sites.<\/p>\n<p>Locations include PHB Layar, Cakung Lama River, Jatikramat River,\nAngke River, Pesanggrahan River, Grogol River, Cideng Atas River,\nSodetan Sekretaris River, and Tomang Reservoir.<\/p>",
