Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) M Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara\nhas revealed that more than 13,000 problematic land plots in\ntransmigration areas have now been successfully certified.<\/p>\n
He emphasised the importance of safeguarding these lands to prevent\nthem from becoming problematic or lost in the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow there are more than 13,000 (land plots), they are certified, no\nlonger overlapping,\u201d said Iftitah when responding to Kompas.com in Palu,\nCentral Sulawesi, on Thursday (16\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to him, efforts to resolve land issues in transmigration\nareas face various limitations, particularly in terms of budget.<\/p>\n
Iftitah then compared the current situation to the past when\ntransmigration budgets were much larger.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the past, in one year it reached up to 50,000 plots. But in the\n1990s, the Ministry of Transmigration\u2019s budget was even more than twice\nthat of the Ministry of Defence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe current President has priority programme focuses. But clearly,\ntransmigration has been re-established because we have land and manpower\n(human resources),\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that the value of land in transmigration areas will\ncontinue to increase in the long term, so it needs to be certified\npromptly and managed properly.<\/p>\n
\u201cLand prices over 10\u201315 years show an upward trend. Transmigration\nland is the same. That\u2019s why it must be certified and managed well.\nDon\u2019t let it be lost,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Iftitah also gave examples of changes in the value of transmigration\nareas that are now developing rapidly.<\/p>\n
He mentioned that several areas that were once remote now have high\neconomic value along with infrastructure development and economic\nactivities.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor example, in Telang, you used to go there by small boat, now it\u2019s\ncrossed by a toll road. In West Manggarai, it was once considered a\nremote place, now people are competing for it because it\u2019s close to\nLabuan Bajo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition, the potential of natural resources such as minerals,\noil, and coal in several transmigration areas also increases land\nvalue.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t just release the land and then it\u2019s taken. Local communities\nmust get the benefits. That\u2019s what we\u2019re coordinating with relevant\nministries,\u201d said Iftitah.<\/p>\n
