Organda proposes private terminal<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda)
\nis proposing the construction of an integrated bus terminal as
\nthe current terminals in Jakarta are inadequate and the
\ngovernment has no money to construct a new one.<\/p>\n
"As the current terminals cannot accommodate city buses, a
\nnumber of illegal terminals have sprung up in many parts of the
\ncity," chairman of Organda Jakarta, Aip Syarifuddin told Antara
\non Friday.<\/p>\n
He said that the illegal bus terminals should not be allowed
\nto continue to operate as hoodlums take advantage of the
\nsituation to extort money from drivers and they also worsen
\ntraffic jams in many parts of the city.<\/p>\n
According to him, the illegal terminals also disrupt the
\nsystem as drivers prefer to take passengers at the illegal ones
\nrather than spending a long time lining up at the official
\nterminals.<\/p>\n
He said that Organda was willing to help the government in
\ntackling the problem, by developing an integrated bus terminal
