        "content": "<p>Orangutans get helping hand<\/p>\n<p>SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: The Samboja Forest Research Center<br>\nhere has rescued several orangutans trapped in the Sangatta<br>\nforest area in Kutai district.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the research center, Adi Susilo, said yesterday<br>\nthat the orangutans were believed to have come from Kutai<br>\nNational Park in Bontang, about 50,000 hectares of which have<br>\nbeen gutted by fire.<\/p>\n<p>He did not say how many orangutans had been rescued.<\/p>\n<p>\"The orangutans most likely tried to escape the fires by<br>\nrunning away until they got trapped in Sangatta, which is near<br>\nthe coal mining site of PT Kaltim Prima Coal,\" said Susilo.<\/p>\n<p>He said the orangutans would be returned to Kutai National<br>\nPark and released in a relatively secure area of the park.<\/p>\n<p>Susilo said the forest fires that hit the national park had<br>\nbadly affected the orangutans.<\/p>\n<p>\"This year's forest fires have destroyed their food sources,<br>\nmaking the orangutans' situation even worse,\" he said as quoted<br>\nby Antara.<\/p>",
