        "content": "<p>Oracle starts program to help RI dot-coms<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Oracle Indonesia, the subsidiary of American<br>\nsoftware maker Oracle Corp., announced on Tuesday a US$8 million<br>\nprogram to help Indonesian Internet start-ups and accelerate e-<br>\nbusiness momentum in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The company said in a statement that under the program, it<br>\nwill provide qualified start-ups with Oracles's best e-business<br>\nsoftware, technical support and education services virtually free<br>\nof charge.<\/p>\n<p>It said by paying only US$998 for development use, companies<br>\nqualified for the program could gain $161,764 worth of software,<br>\ntechnical support and training during the first year of the<br>\nprogram.<\/p>\n<p>\"In doing so, Oracle passes on significant savings in<br>\ntechnology investment to a qualified start-up during its<br>\ninfancy,\" Oracle Indonesia's managing director Cliff Nelson said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he said, participants in the program would<br>\nbenefit from Oracle's worldwide marketing and branding as well as<br>\nmarket access afforded by Oracle.<\/p>\n<p>He said the program was part of the $32 million program<br>\nrecently launched by the company in Singapore to support Internet<br>\nstart-ups in Asia.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson said Oracle had signed memorandums of understanding<br>\nwith five incubation centers in Indonesia to jointly deliver this<br>\nprogram. The centers are AITech Venture Capital, BaliCamp,<br>\nCybercity, Praisindo Dotkom and Parcomp.<\/p>\n<p>The incubation centers will handle the selection of start-ups<br>\nfor the program.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must provide a business plan to the appointed<br>\nincubation centers and Oracle for a review. Only a start-up, not<br>\nan existing company, will be qualified for the program.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants will be selected on the basis of several criteria,<br>\nincluding whether they have a sound business and revenue model,<br>\nstrong founding team composition, strong domain expertise and<br>\ngood funding status.
