PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna (BAg) is collaborating with the
National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to support the economic
sustainability of fishermen around the Tanjung Jati B Power Plant (PLTU
TJB). This partnership focuses on improving efficiency and optimising
sea grape cultivation in the Pailus Beach area, Jepara. The event, held
on 15–16 April 2026, was a technical discussion and further planning
agenda for sea grape cultivation involving two fishermen groups in BAg’s
operational waters. The programme is designed not only to increase
cultivation productivity but also to serve as an alternative income
source for fishermen, particularly during the east wind season when sea
activities are limited. Researchers and engineering experts from BRIN,
including Dasep Hasbullah, shared experiences and knowledge on efficient
and weather-adaptive sea grape cultivation techniques. The discussion
was interactive, featuring direct consultations with fishermen and
evaluations of previous cultivation practices. According to Dasep, sea
grapes have significant economic potential if managed with a scientific
approach and appropriate cultivation systems. “Sea grapes are a
high-value economic commodity with continuously increasing market
demand. With the right cultivation techniques and good environmental
management, productivity can be maintained even in the face of weather
changes,” Dasep stated in his remarks on Monday, 20 April 2026. Through
this collaboration, BRIN provides research-based assistance from
selecting superior seeds, efficient cultivation techniques, water
quality management, to optimal harvesting strategies. This approach is
expected to increase production yields while minimising harvest failure
risks. BAg’s Corporate Secretary, Aditya Yudanto, stated that this
cooperation is a strategic step in delivering programmes with real
impact for coastal communities, especially in the operational area of
BAg’s Tanjung Jati Branch, Jepara. “Through this collaboration, we aim
to ensure that the community not only gains economic benefits but also
capacity building through knowledge and technology transfer, while
building harmonious relations between the company and fishermen,” Aditya
said. In addition to strengthening fishermen’s capacity, the programme
also aims to maintain harmony between coastal community activities and
BAg’s shipping operations, creating safe, orderly, and mutually
supportive waters.
",
