        "content": "<p>PT Atosim Lampung Pelayaran (ALP), as the operator of KM Mutiara\nSentosa 2, will take responsibility for the incident and provide\ninsurance protection for the victims\u2019 families and their vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Asep Suparman, Director of Operations and Commercial at PT ALP,\nspeaking at the passenger handling post for KM Mutiara Sentosa II, also\noffered an apology to all the victims and the wider public for the\ndisaster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise to all parties for this tragedy. The company takes\nresponsibility for the incident, including providing insurance cover for\nthe victims and the vehicles affected,\u201d he said in Surabaya on Wednesday\n(5 August).<\/p>\n<p>According to Asep, the management had already insured the vehicles\nand the fatalities. Meanwhile, when asked about the suspected cause of\nthe fire on KMP Mutiara Sentosa 2, he declined to comment and left the\ninvestigation to the competent authorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe investigation by the National Transportation Safety Committee\n(KNKT) is already under way. We cannot speculate; it is better to wait\nfor the police\u2019s conclusions,\u201d Asep asserted.<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported, KM Mutiara Sentosa 2 caught fire in the\nwaters off Sumenep, Madura, on Sunday morning (2 August). The\nroll-on\/roll-off vessel was sailing its main Surabaya\u2013Makassar route\nwhen the fire broke out mid-voyage.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty-two victims of the KMP Mutiara Sentosa 2 fire arrived at\nTanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, aboard the State Vessel (KN) Masalembo on\nTuesday (4 August).<\/p>\n<p>Irine Yusiana Roba Putri, a member of Commission V of the House of\nRepresentatives (DPR RI), has urged the Ministry of Transportation to\nconduct a comprehensive safety audit following the KM Mutiara Sentosa 2\ndisaster.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad Awaluddin, President Director of PT Jasa Raharja (Persero),\naccompanied by Abdul Haris, President Director of Jasaraharja Putera,\ninspected the handling of the fire victims directly.<\/p>\n<p>The rights of the victims and their families affected by the KM\nMutiara Sentosa II fire are assured to be fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p>MT Transko Arafura, a vessel owned by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga,\nrescued 17 victims of the fire that struck KM Mutiara Sentosa 2 in the\nJava Sea.<\/p>",
