Jayapura \u2014 The Operation Peaceful Cartenz (ODC) task force has\napprehended Ferly Wesabla, alias Ferlin, aged 22, an escaped prisoner\nand member of an armed criminal group (KKB) in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency,\nHighland Papua.<\/p>\n
Ferly, who had escaped from Wamena Penitentiary since 25 February\n2025, was captured on Monday afternoon (16 March) in the vicinity of the\nYahukimo Regional Administration housing estate in Dekai.<\/p>\n
According to Kombes Yusuf Sutejo, spokesman for the ODC task force,\nat a press statement in Jayapura on Tuesday, the suspect attempted to\nflee and hide in bushes near the location when approached for detention,\nbut was apprehended following a pursuit.<\/p>\n
Escaped prisoner Ferly Wesabla is one of six inmates who fled from\nWamena Class IIB Penitentiary and is affiliated with the Kodap XVI\nYahukimo armed criminal group, Yalennang Battalion.<\/p>\n
\u201cPrisoner Fery was involved in the case of the murder of a Yahukimo\nPolice District officer, Brigadier Oktovianus Buara, in 2024,\u201d stated\nKombes Yusuf.<\/p>\n
He noted that other prisoners who also escaped from Wamena\nPenitentiary alongside Fery include Penias Heluka, alias Kopi Tua, who\nis a leader of the Yahukimo armed criminal group.<\/p>\n
The other escapees are Nelis Helika bin Hendrik Heluka, Rio Elopere\nbin Jani Elopere, Ariel Sonyap alias Simon Sonyap, Segius Asso and\nWelinton Kogoya alias Ula.<\/p>\n
