The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) raided the home of West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono in Bandung and Indramayu, prompting criticism from community leader Eka Santosa over procedural lapses, including a request to disable CCTV cameras without a court warrant. Santosa expressed concern that such actions undermine the integrity of law enforcement and could foster perceptions of political motivation, urging the KPK to adhere strictly to legal principles. The raid is part of an ongoing investigation stemming from a 2023 sting operation, highlighting tensions between anti-corruption efforts and public trust in institutional processes.",

West
Java Indigenous Community figure Eka Santosa expressed concern, stating
that the KPK acted arbitrarily in the legal process it conducted.

“I respect law enforcement. However, law enforcement must not be
carried out in ways that violate procedures and injure the principles of
justice,” said the former West Java DPRD Chairman.

According to him, the request to turn off CCTV during the raid, as
well as the absence of a permit from the Chief of the District Court,
are very serious matters that cannot be tolerated.

“This is not merely a technical issue, but it concerns the integrity
of law enforcement institutions. If even basic procedures are ignored,
it is reasonable for the public to question what is behind all this,” he
emphasised.

He added that the seizure of items allegedly unrelated to the case
strengthens the impression of forced actions.

Law enforcement must not turn into a tool of pressure.

“I strongly remind the Corruption Eradication Commission not to lose
public trust due to deviant practices from legal principles. Do not let
this process create a perception as a political order aimed at
pressuring Ono Surono,” he asserted.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) provided firm
clarification regarding allegations of non-compliance with procedures in
the raid on Ono Surono’s house.

This case is a development from the Corruption Eradication
Commission’s (KPK) sting operation (OTT) in April 2023.
",
