        "content": "<p>One year sought for ex-officer<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): A prosecutor at the South Jakarta district court<br>\nis seeking a one year sentence for a retired army colonel being<br>\ntried on charges of possessing firearms without a permit.<\/p>\n<p>The 64-year-old Lt. Col. (ret.) Akkas Alimuddin has been<br>\ncharged with illegal possession of two FN-36 pistols of 9<br>\nmillimeter caliber, five boxes of ammunition and another 30<br>\nbullets.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor Eko Siwi Sriyani said Monday that when Alimuddin<br>\nretired from the Armed Forces in 1987 he failed to return the<br>\narms as required by law.<\/p>\n<p>Sriyani insisted that there is strong evidence that the<br>\naccused wanted the firearms for his personal use.<\/p>\n<p>\"I demand that the judge sentence the defendant to one year<br>\nimprisonment because he has violated Article 1 of Emergency Law<br>\nNo. 12,\" she said.
