One more survivor found after Sumbawa ship accident<\/p>\n

A senior Naval officer revealed on Wednesday that one of its
\npersonnel survived the capsizing of a ship in waters off the
\neastern island of Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province.<\/p>\n
With the discovery of the man, the people still missing after
\nthe incident last Friday officially totaled at least three, while
\n15 others were rescued.<\/p>\n
Chief of Ampenan Naval base in West Nusa Tenggara province,
\nLt. Col. R. Edi Surjanto, said on Wednesday that the Naval
\nofficer was Supriyadi.<\/p>\n
Edi would not go into detail as to where Supriyadi was
\ndiscovered, only saying that he was rescued by fishermen, who
\ntook him to Situbondo, East Java province for medical treatment.<\/p>\n
Head of Mataram Search and Rescue (SAR) Agency I Gde Budisma
\nsaid that the SAR team was still looking for victims of the
\nincident, assisted by the Naval vessel, KRI Sura.<\/p>\n
\"The SAR team found only debris, assumed to have been part of
\nthe ship, in waters off Obel-obel, East Lombok,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Officials in Surabaya have said that the cargo ship was manned
\nby 19 crew members, including the captain.<\/p>\n
However, a survivor, Petrus Nongo, who said he was a passenger
\non the cargo ship, claimed that there were 30 people aboard,
\nincluding 19 crew members.<\/p>\n
\"I remember there was a mother and baby aboard, and three
\nother young ladies from Flores, whom I knew. But I have no idea
\nwhere they are now,\" he said in Mataram, the provincial capital
\nof West Nusa Tenggara, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
A cargo ship is not supposed to carry passengers, but
\nviolations of this rule often occur. The fact that a Naval
\nofficer was also aboard the ship has lent credence to the
\nallegation that the ship's officials had violated the rule,
\nallowing passengers to board the vessel.<\/p>\n
Separately, in Surabaya, Sumantri, the deputy director of PT
\nSurya Timur Sejahtera -- the owner of the ill-fated ship -- said
\nthat the 14 crew members who survived the incident were still
\nbeing treated at the hospital.<\/p>\n
They were suffering from mental shock,said Sumantri.<\/p>\n
The crew was saved by two ships that were in the area. The
\ncargo ship, Artomoro I capsized on Friday after it was hit by
\nstrong waves in waters off Sumbawa.<\/p>\n
Sumantri denied that there were 11 passengers aboard, in
\naddition to the crew.<\/p>\n
When the ship departed from Surabaya on Friday, there were no
\npassengers at all on board, as checked by the port authority, he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Separately, chief of Tanjung Perak port, Capt. Subagyo,
\nrefused to confirm whether or not passengers had been aboard,
\nadding that his staff were investigating the matter.<\/p>",
