        "content": "<p>One dead, one loses ears in mobbings<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): One man was killed and another had his ears cut<br>\noff, but survived, after being attacked by vendors in markets in<br>\nSouth and West Jakarta yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>A man identified as Charlie, 23, was beaten to death by<br>\nvendors in the Mampang Prapatan market, South Jakarta, Monday<br>\nnight.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the vendors caught Charlie stealing jackets, T-<br>\nshirts and two kilograms of freshwater catfish from a vendor,<br>\nYanto, who was in the public toilet at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The beating stopped when officers from the Mampang police<br>\nprecinct arrived and broke up the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>City Police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said Charlie, who<br>\nsuffered from serious injuries to his entire body, died at Kramat<br>\nDjati police hospital yesterday at dawn.<\/p>\n<p>\"Police are still questioning several vendors believed to have<br>\nwitnessed the incident,\" Aritonang said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The man whose ears were cut off was 26-year-old Mansur.
