        "content": "<p>On interns<\/p>\n<p>From Kompas<\/p>\n<p>The letter in Kompas (April 22, 1996) about interns that are<br>\nplaced in public clinic compels me to respond.<\/p>\n<p>An intern myself, I was assigned in the public health clinic<br>\nin Liquisa district in East Timor. Staffed by a general<br>\npractitioner, a dentist and other staff, this clinic accepts<br>\ninpatients. All the staff, including the doctor and dentist, have<br>\nto perform various jobs: as drivers, health instructors, clerks,<br>\ntreasurer and other odd jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Isn't it ironic? A clinic in a certain region has too many<br>\ndoctors, while another has a limited staff which results in<br>\ndoctors being overburdened with routine work. Yet there are<br>\npeople who like to underestimate medical workers' performance by<br>\nclaiming they are indisciplined.<\/p>\n<p>How should one react to this? Should one be happy or sad?<br>\nEveryone should realize that every region has its own problem. It<br>\ndepends entirely on ourselves to find the best solution to the<br>\nproblem.<\/p>\n<p>DR.
