He was back in Jakarta last week on<br>\nvacation. On July 16, 2001, he decided to go to Singapore on<br>\nbusiness.<\/p>\n<p>To the best of my knowledge, an Indonesian citizen as an<br>\noverseas resident who wants to travel abroad is entitled to<br>\nexemption from exit tax four times a year, regardless of the<br>\ncountry of destination and not limited to the country where the<br>\nperson is domiciled.<\/p>\n<p>However, my cousin had difficulty at the airport, where the<br>\nofficer in charge said that the exit-tax exemption was only<br>\napplicable to a person wishing to travel to his country of<br>\ndomicile.<\/p>\n<p>This has certainly confused us, and we hope to have a<br>\nclarification about the rules applicable to an Indonesian citizen<br>\ndomiciled overseas.
