        "content": "<p>On copyright lawsuits<\/p>\n<p>An article published in The Jakarta Post on March 16 titled<br>\nCommercial Court earns praise in copyright cases contained some<br>\ndeceptive information relating to the quotations taken from Law<br>\nNo. 19\/2002 on copyrights and Law No. 15\/2001 on trademarks.<\/p>\n<p>The article stated that \"Rahmat said that the court was quick<br>\nto rule on copyright cases, which has also boosted confidence in<br>\nthe commercial court\".<\/p>\n<p>A verdict is usually reached in less than 30 days, he said,<br>\nadding that foreign companies were appreciative of this factor.<br>\n\"According to Law No. 19\/2002 on copyrights and Law No. 15\/2001<br>\non trademarks, a ruling must be reached within 30 days after the<br>\ncase is filed.\"<\/p>\n<p>According to my knowledge, based on related articles on the<br>\nsettlement of copyright and trademark disputes, the laws state<br>\nthat a copyright lawsuit shall be given a decision within a<br>\nperiod of 90 days as of its filing with the relevant Commercial<br>\nCourt. (Article<br>\n60, Paragraph 5 of copyright Law No. 19\/2002.)<\/p>\n<p>A decision on the lawsuit shall be made at the latest 90 days<br>\nfrom the date the lawsuit is filed and can be extended for 30<br>\ndays at the latest, with the approval of chief justice of the<br>\nSupreme Court. (Article 61, Paragraph 2 of copyright Law No.<br>\n19\/2002.)<\/p>\n<p>The examination of a lawsuit shall be conducted within a<br>\nperiod of 60 days after the registration date of the lawsuit.<br>\n(Article 80, Paragraph 6 of trademark Law No. 15\/2001.)<\/p>\n<p>A decision on the lawsuit shall be made at the latest 90 days<br>\nafter the registration date of the lawsuit and may be extended at<br>\nthe latest for 30 days with the approval of the head of Supreme<br>\nCourt.
