In Indonesia almost every profession has their own code of
\nconduct. Even the House of Representatives has its own. An
\norganization has a code of conduct to ensure that its members act
\nin an orderly, honest and polite manner.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, the speaker of our House of Representatives is
\na defendant in an ongoing court trial. The governor of our
\ncentral bank is also a defendant, as is also one of the leaders
\nof our People's Consultative Assembly.<\/p>\n
It seems that the present reform era allows a defendant to
\nlead this country. How ridiculous! In other countries, with a
\nmore evolved civilization than ours, when a government official
\nis allegedly engaged in unlawful actions or if he assumes
\nresponsibility for an accident claiming many lives, he or she
\nwill immediately resign. This is a characteristic of a civilized
\nnation.<\/p>\n
