JAKARTA - The Ombudsman RI (ORI) has stated that integrity-driven
lawyers are strategic partners in preventing maladministration and
ensuring the law serves public interest, not merely the interests of
involved parties. ORI Deputy Chair Rahmadi Indra Tektona said technical
competence alone is insufficient for lawyers, and integrity must remain
the cornerstone to maximise justice and legal certainty. ‘I hope
organisations like Peradi SAI continue to be a breeding ground for
lawyers who are not only digitally and technically proficient but also
uphold high ethical standards,’ Rahmadi stated in a confirmation at
Jakarta on Wednesday. He noted that the theme ‘Becoming Professional and
Integrity-Driven Lawyers with Specialised Competence in the Modern Era’,
adopted at Peradi SAI’s 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) in
Jakarta on Friday (8/5), is highly relevant to current conditions. He
highlighted that in the fast-paced and complex modern digital age,
merely ‘knowing everything’ is no longer sufficient for lawyers. ‘In
this context, specialised competence is crucial. For instance, lawyers
focusing on procedural law must continuously update their knowledge on
legislative developments, court practices, and new instruments,’ he
added. Thus, Rahmadi hopes Rakernas Peradi SAI has generated progressive
ideas to strengthen the officium nobile profession, enabling lawyers to
serve with competence and integrity. The recent Rakernas was attended by
Bawaslu RI Chairman Rahmat Bagja, Directorate General of General Legal
Administration’s Business Director Andi Taleting Langi, and Deputy for
Investment Climate Development at the Ministry of Investment and
Downstreaming/BKPM Riyatno. Also present were Bareskrim Polri’s General
Criminal Directorate Deputy Director Burkan Rudi Satria, DPN Peradi
Expert Council Member Yenny Wahid, and Chairman of the Advisory Board of
DPN Peradi SAI Juniver Girsang.
",
